QUESTION
Is there any gonzo sci-fi (like in the vein of Buckaroo Banzai, John Dies at the End, or Big Trouble in Little China) that has female protagonists? And I mean ladies as actual main characters doing stuff and forwarding the plot, not just serving as an excuse to have someone run around in a metal bikini a’la Barbarella, or who wait around to be saved from whatever Lovecraftian horror is threatening the existence of the known Universe. This is my absolute favorite fiction genre, but it is sorely lacking in awesome ladies.
(Note: I have already seen The Middleman and love it dearly.)
