Teen Wolf fans launch a lifestyle magazine for werewolves.
The era of the fanzine, it turns out, is far from over.
Zines have come a long way since the black and white xerox days of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Rather than just being a printed collection of fanfic and art, Teen Wolf’s fandom’s latest project resembles nothing less than a professionally-made glossy magazine.
Featuring interviews, advice columns, fake adverts and photoshoots, Neckz‘n Throats provides an intriguing glimpse into a fan-created alternate universe. The zine itself isn’t about Teen Wolf—that’s what Tumblr is for. Instead, it’s a “real” magazine, set in a world where werewolves are an accepted part of normal society, and the characters of Teen Wolf are all models, photographers, and journalist. Basically, it’s a werewolf lifestyle magazine. [READ MORE]

Sometimes, I think it must be kind of terrifying to be Dylan O’Brien.

Fourteen, twenty-three, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER, IT’S LIKE THE SAME THING.
“dylan o’brien can get it” = the song of our generation. i’m entertained by the fact that hollywood caught on VERY fast.
In three years we’ll all be snide hipster fangirls shrieking about how WE KNEW HIM WHEN. I’m looking forward to it.
i hate to be the one to break it to you morgan, but we are ALREADY LIKE THAT.

Dylan’s path to stardom is finally clear and set I guess! He’s gonna be amazing!
See, now I just worry that he’ll leave Teen Wolf after this season. Which would be awesome, because he deserves a huge career and all, but man would that break my heart.
I’ve been seeing a lot of concern about this on my dash so let me alleviate some fears.
Most TV shows film from 5 months to 8 months out of the year. This leaves PLENTY of time in the hiatus to work on other projects. I don’t know where on this spectrum Teen Wolf falls but I can’t imagine they shoot more than 5 or 6 months out of the year.
So all of the cast will have lots of time to do films or guest star on tv shows, or do any other number of projects.
Also, most standard TV contracts include a commitment for five seasons from their actors. It’s possible to get around this, but usually the actor and the network has to agree. I can’t image Teen Wolf letting go of one of their break out stars. Stiles is an immensely popular character.
So go ahead and be super happy about Dylan O’Brien getting yet another awesome movie role, and don’t worry about him leaving Teen Wolf. The chance of this happening is incredibly low.
I agree with this except that Jeff Davis/MTV do not seem to know what contracts are.
Lolz, that’s a good point, but bear in mind that Colton and Gage were both recurring and in smaller roles… Dylan has a pretty central role. They COULD write him off in any number of ways, but I think Dylan’s got a great track record so far of smart career choices, and leaving his regular starring role on a popular TV show to go and do just movies — when he isn’t much of a name yet and can still do movies anyway during hiatus — would be silly. It’d be kind of like, you know how teachers only work part of the year, and then they get summers off? It’d be like a teacher deciding to quit their teaching job so they’d be available to work a part-time gig in the summer. It would make NO SENSE. :D And yeah, we’ve seen some cast moves lately that make no sense, but let’s trust Dylan to know what he’s doing with his own career, eh? I’m totally with imakegoodlifechoices on this one, I am 0% worried about Dylan leaving Teen Wolf and 100% stoked that he’s getting more film work.
Also, keep the following in mind:
- Teen Wolf was his first role, so he’s probably more inclined to be loyal to the show than a more seasoned (and therefore more cutthroat) actor might be,
- Seriously, contracts, and
- MTV seems pretty clued-in to what the fandom is and how we feel about stuff, which presumably means they understand that EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO WATCHES TEEN WOLF THINKS DYLAN O’BRIEN IS A GIFT, which would presumably lead them to offer him a lot of money (comparatively speaking) if he DID express interest in leaving. They would not have been motivated to do that in the case of either Jackson or Erica, since they’re not characters whose disappearance would make many (if any) people stop watching the show.
Also, this whole thing is just cracking me up because I helped one of the kids I used to babysit do a book project on this book, and I’m pretty sure all the characters are supposed to be, like, 14? Oh, HOLLYWOOD.
I haven’t read the book, but LOL SURELY THEY’RE GONNA AGE THEM UP? Also: Intrigued by Kaya Skodelario and Dylan O’Brien being in the same movie. SURELY THEY MUST BE PLAYING SIBLINGS?? If they end up being each other’s love interest, it’s gonna look seriously twincesty.
Also, re: people’s worries about Dylan leaving Teen Wolf… Teen Wolf probably takes even less than 5 months to film. I remember hearing from Jeff Davis that they film each episode in 7 days? Like, SUPER fast. Even given a longer season this time round.
“Okay, we want to start with the awkward question first just to get it out of the way. Everybody is always talking about Stiles and Derek, did they actually write any of those scenes in this season?”
