Supposedly designed by the best minds in the galaxy, Starfleet’s new uniform was a nightmare in every regard. Catsuits with shoes attached to the legs are a prime example of what I think of as “idiot futurism”. It’s perfectly acceptable to design a stupid costume for, say, Barbarella or Flash Gordon, but if you’re trying to conceptualise a functional future society, then your costumes should make sense.
